Fukuoka City selected as Global MICE Strategic City

at 2013/08/27

Japan Tourism Agency selected Fukuoka City as one of the five Global MICE Strategic Cities in Japan, in line with the government’s newly launched initiative to promote MICE in the country.  The nomination is a clear indication of Fukuoka City’s potential as a leading MICE City, and more focused approaches and collaboration to further enhance MICE function is expected.

As part of the Global MICE Strategic Cities program, an official advisor, Mr. Rod Kamleshwaran was sent to Fukuoka City on Aug. 5, 2013.  Mr. Kamleshwaran inspected several MICE facilities within the city and held discussions and hearings with stakeholders from the public/private sectors for 3 days prior to compiling a series of recommendations and guidance to be presented to Fukuoka City.
