Fukuoka Takes 2nd in Japanese Convention City Ranking for 7th consecutive year!
On September 30, 2016, JNTO (Japan National Tourism Organization) has announced the Japanese cities ranking 2015 by number of international conventions hosted in each city.According to the survey conducted by JNTO, a total of 2,847 international conventions was held around the country in 2015. Fukuoka hosted 363 conventions,which increased by 27 from the previous year and ranked second after Tokyo for the past 7 consecutive years.
Fukuoka City has been designated as the Global MICE Strategic City (now called as Global MICE City) by Japan Tourism Agency (JTA) since 2013. Fukuoka aims to bring more International conventions and meetings to the city in collaboration with JTA and JNTO, in addition to the regional partnership with local universities and MICE facilities.
