About Fukuoka

Getting to Fukuoka

Fukuoka is located in the prefecture of the same name in the northernmost part of Japan’s western island of Kyushu. Our location puts us in direct contact with the main island of Honshu, and due to this location Fukuoka is an important artery for the whole of western Japan.

Additionally, with one of the world’s busiest single runway airports in the world we have developed a comprehensive system for accommodating the possible guests and clients coming to our city. As a result of our location and ease of access, we have become a popular destination for international events and conventions.

For International Travelers

Regarding the number of flights that fly directly to Fukuoka, over 700 flights from over 22 different cities throughout the world land here weekly (information as of December 2019). For most major East Asian cities access is generally possible within 3 hours, and for guests coming from Europe or America transferring at international hub airports to get to Fukuoka is smooth and efficient.

Additionally, if traveling from Busan in Korea one can take the high speed ferry to travel directly to Fukuoka. This trip will take you roughly 3 hours.

For Domestic Travelers

For travelers arriving in Fukuoka from another of Japan’s many airports, we are happy to say that we regularly receive 182 flights daily from 28 different airports throughout the country (55 of these departing from Haneda airport).

For those travelling by Shinkansen (or bullet train), a train runs every 10 to 30 minutes making it easy to get both to and from various other cities across Kyushu and the main island of Honshu.
